During the week of December 2nd, Dr. Michele Pierro, Ms. Saukhyda Deshmukh and Mr. Diego Alvarado participated in the 2019 Physiological Analysis Tool (PAT) Tech Sprint in Tampa, Florida. SOFWERX, in collaboration with the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Program Executive Command, Control, Communications and Computer (PEO-C4), hosted the PAT tech sprint to develop a proof of concept system that can determine physiological responses to messaging.
The Vivonics team presented the Non-Contact Cardiovascular Assessment (NCCA) system which measures photoplethysmogram (PPG) signals in a non-contact way (up to a distance of ~5 meters away from the subject), thus, providing real time physiological parameters including heart rate, heart rate variability and respiration rate. The team was successful in seamlessly integrating the NCCA system with other data collection systems to provide an overall view of the subject’s physiological status.
SOFWERX is, “a platform that helps solve challenging Warfighter problems at scale through collaboration, ideation, events and rapid prototyping.” You can learn more about their program at their website.
