Vivonics' Research Recognized by MHSRS 2021

Vivonics is happy to present five of our posters accepted for the 2021 Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS), unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19.

The Vivonics Engineering Team, in conjunction with our collaborators at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ, presents the Vestibular Intervention via Portable Electrical Stimulator (VIPES), a device for treating balance issues caused by traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Dr. Ryan Myers, along with our collaborators at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, presents the Intranasal Cooler for Encephalopathy Prevention In Combat Casualties (ICEPICC), a portable device to cool the brain for emergency treatment of TBI. He also presents a wearable sensor for monitoring blood alcohol content using near-infrared technology. Dr. Myers, along with the Mayo Clinic, was invited to deliver a podium presentation about the Wearable Integrated Speaker-less Sound Protection using Electrostimulative Resonance (WISSPER), a device to enable clear verbal communication even in noisy environments where hearing protection is required.

Ms. Michaelina Dupnik presents a novel technique for using near-infrared light to diagnose and guide treatment of tension pneumothorax in patients with traumatic chest and lung injuries.

Dr. Michele Pierro also had a podium presentation accepted, “A Noninvasive Method for Monitoring Intracranial Pressure during Postural Changes”, on our novel IPASS system, a tool for diagnosing and assessing the effects of TBI. "MHSRS is the Department of Defense’s premier scientific meeting. It provides a venue for presenting new scientific knowledge resulting from military-unique research and development. The MHSRS is the only military or civilian meeting that focuses specifically on the unique medical needs of the Warfighter."
