Vivonics Awarded NIAAA Contract to Develop an Alcohol Monitoring Wearable

Vivonics was recently awarded a $235,000 National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) contract for the Development of a Wearable Near-Infrared Blood Alcohol Content Monitor.

In this Phase I research, Vivonics plans to develop a method to noninvasively detect BAC by determining the correlation between near infrared light absorption and concentration of ethanol in the blood. Our long term goal is to integrate this technology into an esthetically pleasing form factor to deliver the continuous monitoring expected by the general public and the accurate data set required by clinicians as well as the research community.

Dr. Ryan Myers of Vivonics will be acting as Principal Investigator for this project.
